In the news today.  Video games to be considered art.

Pong used to be my favorite. Just putting the finishing touches on this one today.

Wednesday 7 November 2012

It seems to be in the nature of working in the studio to say we will work on one project and get side tracked by several.  In this photo there is evidence of me doing all kinds of things except for the large screen printing project I really want to work on.    There is the obvious water colour stuff I am doing for my water colour students, some wrapping for a painting sent out today via Canada Post, and then the less obvious stuff of working on my chain saw to cut wood to heat the studio, tools for changing the headlights in my truck, a piece of melted lead on aluminum that needed to be masked off so I could coat the aluminum with a gloss finish.....  Can you find Waldo, he's not there but why not look anyway maybe I missed him.

The postive for the next piece.  The broom in the picture served as the brush to make these large brush strokes.  One of these will be transfered for the back drop of the large serigraph print I am working on.

Friday 28 September 2012

It has been a while but I am back at it with the water pieces.  This is the beginning stages.  I used to have a boss that didn't think you worked unless you were physically dirty.   I must be covered with invisible computer radion dirt because this process always takes longer than it seems and it sure feels like work.

Monday 23 July 2012

While it does not look like it, a lot of my work is influenced by modernist tendencies. I love the look of a screen printed brush stroke on a piece of plastic so I thought I would make a few and leave it at that. Printed brush stokes.

Friday 13 July 2012

Cut my plastic, sanded it all down, now I am washing it.  All for the sake of a brush stroke print.

Saturday 7 July 2012

Trying out some new brush strokes.  We will see where this leads to.  For now it is a break/distraction from the current body of work.

Saturday 23 June 2012

Okay, finally finished this piece.  One good one, two artist proofs.  An artist proof is often more interesting.

Monday 18 June 2012

Just about finished.  Just need to clean it up.  Finished this morning.

Saturday 9 June 2012

Not all days are good, so this is all I am posting for now.  I just have to work it out.

Wednesday 30 May 2012

Printing green.

I love the idea of printing a brush stroke.  Is that what deconstructing is?

Friday 18 May 2012

Painting my "Positives" on the plastic  sheets.  Hmmm. maybe we should regularly paint our postives, life might look a lot better that way.

Friday 11 May 2012

Paiting the studio red today.  Next piece in the series.  Each of these is 40" X 60"

Thought I would post the finished image from a couple of weeks ago, guess I got carried away with a few other things.  45"X 41"  He is gliding through the water.

Thursday 10 May 2012

Digital camera's are great but they don't handle "white" very well.  Both of these are close ups of the underlayer for my next piece.  Both are pure white, but this is how they come out.  Got to love it.

Thursday 3 May 2012

Side tracked and left with a mess for now.

"There are two ways to get enough.
One is to continue to accumulate more and more.
The other is to desire less."

Details of the most recent piece.  Finished piece to come yet.

White on white. Kasimir Malevich was just enamoured by the medium, I am sure.
The colour will come.

Thursday 29 March 2012

Working under safe light conditions, just about to coat my screen with Poly Plus Emulsion.  Light sensitive.

Wednesday 21 March 2012

Doing some painting on the side.  Sometimes, actually most of the time, I am seduced by process more than the finished product.

And then there is this work in progress for the next piece on styrene.

Monday 13 February 2012

Still a work in progress.  Here is a detail of what I printed today.

And below is the clean up.  More time is spent setting up and cleaning up than actual printing.

Wednesday 8 February 2012

Still working on this image.  It takes a while but when it works it is great.
Here I am exposing my positive on a light sensitive screen on the floor of my studio.

Monday 30 January 2012

So, is identity, the sense of the self, dependent on someone knowing you?

I am sure a few people have written a dissertation on this somewhere in the last 15 years.
